Acoustic listening
Listening for sound produced by escaping water can help narrow a pressurised pipe leak.
What it adds
Specialist listening equipment can compare sounds at accessible fittings or suitable ground surfaces. The pattern is considered alongside the likely pipe route and other test results.
Where interpretation matters
Plastic pipes, low pressure, deeper routes and surrounding noise can reduce useful sound. The loudest point at the surface is not automatically the exact repair position.
In the investigation
Acoustic evidence may support further testing or an access plan. If conditions do not give a reliable signal, another method may be more useful.

A damp patch. A moving meter. A boiler that keeps losing pressure. You don’t need to know where the leak is to make an enquiry.
